A young Police recruit was on Thursday fined ,000 by City Magistrate Fabayo Azore for theft of a cellular phone.Nicholas Harvey, 21, of 3072 section A, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Felix Austin Police Training College, he stole 1 Blu cellular phone valued ,000, property of Durant Lafleur.Nicholas HarveyPolice Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that Harvey only joined the college two weeks ago and on the day in question the virtual complainant (VC), Lafleur, left his cellphone on a table charging and went to the washroom. Upon returning the VC noticed the phone was missing. The defendant was contacted and admitted to stealing the phone.The unrepresented recruit told the court that he never had any previous brushes with the law and as such he was begging for leniency.Magistrate Azore told the defendant recruit that he cannot want to be an enforcer of the law when he himself is breaking the law.The Magistrate said she did not sentence the young man because he was remorseful. However, should he fail to pay the fine, he will be imprisoned for three months.

This season will include 23 time trials, 10 Cyclo cross races, 24 mountain bike races, 5 duathlons, 1 triathlon, 2 hill climbs and 20 massed start road events.
